Major Projects
We have been involved in many interesting projects in various industries such as, Large Databases
Transportation, Manufacturing and Wholesale, just to name a few.
We
work closely with our clients to define the problem, design a
solution, and a strategy to implement it. Most importantly, we create a
clear set or parameters to measure our results.
The
following are brief descriptions of some of our most significant
engagements. A large segment of our clients base are multinational
corporations with operations worldwide, our systems are in use in
virtually every country in Central and South America.
Large Databases - Parts Pricing and Quoting System
PROBLEM:
Our clients were 3 heavy equipment multinational corporations, these
firms are industry leaders in the fields of Construction, Agricultural
and Mining Equipment. They were publishing their parts pricing catalogs
in book format, the books were big and difficult to use. Quoting was
done by looking for items in the price book and then doing all the
necessary mathematical extensions manually, such as multiple parts,
dealer markup, importation costs and conversion to local currencies.
The manual system was error prone and very slow, additionally it required vast amounts of man hours.
SOLUTION:
We developed a software program to provide a better way for quoting
spare parts and accessing technical information. The average number of
spare parts for any of these companies is over 500,000 items. Our
system replaced all manual methods of pricing spare parts, replacement
and technical information, now they can produce all quotations with a
user-friendly system that does all necessary calculations to produces a
final price in their local currency with all the markups in place.
The
system has been implemented in almost every country in Latin America
greatly improving their productivity and customers service.
Transportation - Equipment Control, Billing and Payroll
PROBLEM:
A regional transportation company needed a way of tracking their
equipment, it was critical to know where each container, chassis and
truck was at all times, the owner of the container and when it had to be
returned. With operations all over the eastern United States,
terminals in three states and with over 100 trucks on the road their
logistics and dispatch centers were overwhelmed. Billing for each trip
was created 7 days after the trip was completed causing a series of cash
flow problems. Because of the unique requirements of independent
drivers pay structure, driver mileage logs had to be added manually
before arriving at an accurate payroll, this process was very time
consuming.
SOLUTION: We designed and implemented a
comprehensive system to keep track of all the Equipment in use or
available in all terminals, the system was used on a 24 hour basis.
Dispatchers in any terminal are able to know exactly the status of any
truck, chassis or trailer at any given time. We added a comprehensive
billing feature to the system, this reduced the time between the
completion of the trip to producing the bill from 7 days to 1 day, thus
improving their cash flow. Next, a complete driver payroll module was
added with many features specific to the trucking industry, driver
mileage logs were computed instantly at the end of the week. Finally a
complete suite mileage and usage reports were added to be used by
management.
Inventory, Manufacturing and Accounting system for an international manufacturer of Air Conditioning Test Equipment
PROBLEM:
A large manufacturer of air conditioning test equipment was using a
leading customizable accounting system but needed replacement before the
year 2000, the system served them well in the past but management
realized the need for a Y2K compliant system, a primary goal was to
incorporate the manufacturing aspect or the business more tightly into
the system. The network infrastructure was unstable and unpredictable.
SOLUTION:
Installed a mayor upgrade to the accounting system and ported all the
necessary modifications done over the years, some features changed and
new were introduced. The manufacturing, inventory and distribution
system was completely changed and a complete new set of management
reports were introduced.
Jewelry and gold wholesaler
PROBLEM:
They had a manual system for tracking sales, accounts receivable and
most importantly for their consignment sales, all systems were manual
and highly dependant on the accuracy of the sales staff, as the price of
gold changes every day, daily prices adjustments were required to all
items.
SOLUTION: Designed a customized software
to track sales, accounts receivable and all consignment sales, control
over pricing was centralized and tracking of outside inventory in
consignment was greatly improved.
